Q&A

By Marla Stefanelli

How can I fix a store-bought bathroom rug when the non-skid backing has worn off?
Bettyjune A.,
Sellersville, PA

Look for gripper fabric used for lining shelves and/or stabilizing rugs, in the housewares department. Measure your rug and buy a piece at least that large. Lay the rug on the gripper fabric and cut around it. Trim 2" from two adjoining sides of the gripper fabric. Center the gripper fabric on the rug wrong side and hand baste around the edges catching only the rug backing. Tack it in place in the center for a large rug. Remove the gripper fabric to launder the rug, as the machine agitation may tear it.
