Q&A

By Marla Stefanelli

I'm making a ring-bearer pillow and I stuffed it with cotton batting but it doesn't look smooth and the corners are floppy. Do you have any suggestions?

Use polyester fiberfill to stuff the pillow for a smoother finished result. Cotton batting forms clumps. To remove some of the corner fullness, trim 1/2" from the corner seams, gradually tapering to the original seam at the center of each side (1).

Then stitch the layers together with the regular seam allowance. When stuffing, use a chopstick or the eraser end of a pencil to push the batting into the corners. Don't forget to add a ribbon handle across the underside so the ring bearer has something to hold (2).
