How do I reuse an iron-on transfer pattern? Will it show up if used a second time?

Iron-on transfer patterns work well for their intended one-time use, but might be too faint when ironed a second time. However, there are other methods for reusing the pattern.
If using thin or light-colored fabric, try tracing the pattern. First use a dark pen or marker to darken the pattern lines. Position the fabric over the design and trace the pattern onto the fabric using light pencil marks or a water-soluble marking pen.
If you can't see through the fabric, place the pattern and fabric on a lightbox or tape them to a window. Sunlight adds the extra visibility needed for tracing. Tracing paper and a tracing wheel also work well when hand tracing isn't an option. Tracing paper works like carbon paper.
Place the tracing paper color-side down on the fabric right side, and position the transfer pattern over it. Using the tracing wheel, press down firmly as you trace the pattern lines. The tracing paper will mark the pattern outline onto the fabric.
