Pattern modifications aren't necessary when substituting toggles for buttons and buttonholes. The featured toggle coat sports 2"-long antler buttons. If your chosen buttons are a different size, adjust the loop size so the buttons fit comfortably through them.

Coat-weight fabric, lining and interfacing in yardage indicated on pattern envelope
One topstitching or jeans needle size 100/16
Five 2"-long antler buttons
3 1/2" x 6" rectangle of faux suede to match coat fabric
