Made for Shade
Fusing Large Areas
- It's easier to fuse the shade if the fabric isn't as wide as the ironing surface. If necessary, make a larger surface to iron on.
- Cut 3/4"-wide plywood to a rectangle the desired size and cover it with two or three clean wool blankets, ending with canvas or duck cloth as the final layer. Make sure the blanket and fabric layers are large enough to pull the edges to the back and staple to the plywood. Staple so the fabric is taut without any wrinkles.
- To use the board on top of your ironing board, place it on the ironing board and, from the underside, draw the ironing board outline on the wood. Remove the board and glue 1"x1" wood strips just outside each of the drawn lines to hold the board in place.
