At Home:
Made for Shade

Scalloped Edge Pattern

Choose a scallop size. The featured shade has 4"-wide scallops (the same size as a small oatmeal box lid). Consider using coasters, small plates or glasses for a circle pattern.

Using pattern tracing cloth, cut a rectangle the shade finished width by the circle height plus 2". Draw a guideline 1 1/2" above and parallel to the lower edge (A).

Trace the circle pattern several times onto heavy paper. Cut out each circle and fold in half; cut along the fold. Fold and cut one half-circle to make two quarter-circles. Place a quarter-circle at each side of the pattern with the straight edges aligned with the pattern edges and the marked guideline. Space the half-circles evenly along the marked line with about 2 3/4" between them. Trace around the curved portion of each circle (B).

Draw straight lines from the half-circle lower edges to the pattern lower edge (C).
