At Home:
Made for Shade

To finish the scallop openings, cut paperbacked fusible web into 3/8" x 2" strips. Fuse a piece of fusible web on the lower seam allowances on both sides of the scallop; peel off the paper backing (4). Turn the facing right side out, tuck in the scallop seam allowances and fuse in place.

Turn under and press 1/2" along the facing upper edge; edgestitch through all layers. To form a casing for the slat, stitch again 1 1/2" from the first row of stitching (5); insert the slat.

Tape the shade to the roller using the packing tape. Align the shade upper end so it's centered and straight on the roller and so it will roll to the back. Place the tape so half of it is on the roller and the other half is on the fabric (6). Secure the bond by firmly rubbing the tape. Mount the shade in the window. Insert a decorative rod in the shade lower edge openings.

The weight of the rod, shade and fabric may be more than some rollers can support. To prevent the shade from unwinding, place small nails at desired heights on both sides of the window frame. The decorative rod end will rest on the nails and hide them.
