Each issue of Sew News magazine comes together through the collaborative efforts of a large group of creative people. Writers, editors, artists and ad reps all work together to get that first spark of an article idea to the final printed page. Here are a two members of our staff:
Amy Stalp, Editor
I started sewing through 4-H when I was 7. My very first project was an elastic-waist skirt, which was the same project that everyone at my level was required to make--and model. I never did wear that skirt again. Over the years, I've expanded my sewing repertoire to include more advanced garments, including some wool coats and blazers. My sense of style was questionable at times (but then again, I did make that turquoise, hot pink and yellow jumpsuit in the '80s!). Through the years, I've also picked up knitting, quilting, crocheting, cross-stitching and embroidery (hand and machine). So, I guess you could say I'm a crafty girl. And I'm delighted that I get to combine my love of sewing with my love of writing and words.
Ann Inez Hardell, Art Director
Slightly vertically challenged at 5'4" is Art Director, Ann Inez Hardell, but she doesn't fall short when it comes to design challenges and creativity. She thrives on splashes of color, minimalist ideals (keep it simple), classic styles (Jackie O and Audrey are key), and humor (laughter is her second language). Ann loves embellishments (ohh-ahh, bring on the bling), texture (raw silk & doupioni, yum!), and all forms of art (paints for fun). She's a HUGE fan of "What Not to Wear." Shouldn't we all be?
